The phone prewire option SA640 was not installed on vehicles produced during the first two weeks of 6/98. E46s produced after the second week of 6/98 will have this phone prewire option SA640 installed at the factory. E46 (328/4 door) produced 6/98 Chassis Number Range FR00000 - FR00172 KG05000 - KG05166 Cause: Vehicles Affected: Correction: If a customer purchases a BMW phone, the wire harness(p/n 82 11 1 470 445) must be installed into the vehicle. The phone will not function if this harness is not installed on vehicles that are missing the pre-wire harness.
